Mung Dhal / Mugg

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Moongh dhal (soaked overnight)
  • 4 tbsps oil or as needed
  • 1/2 onion (finely sliced)
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1/2 tsp dhana powder
  • 1/2 tsp jeeru powder
  • Pinch of turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Whole green chillies – optional
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/3 cup tinned tomato (grounded)

Method

  1. Recite Bismillah.
  2. Boil moongh dhal in water until it reaches your desired level of softness.
  3. Fry onions and green chillies in oil until pinkish in colour.
  4. Then add ginger garlic paste and braise.
  5. Add the spices and cook for a few seconds.
  6. Then add the tomato and cook till oil releases.
  7. Add the moongh dhal with its water to your preference. Cook for 10 mins on low heat or until you achieve your preferred consistency.
  8. Serve with hot chappattis.
