بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

“In the name of Allah the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.”

-There are 14 places in the quraan, whereby after reciting the ayah or by listening to someone praying the ayah, it is waajib (necessary) to do sajdah. This is called sajda-e-tilawah.

-One should try to perform the sajdah as soon as possible. In the case that one forgot, it would remain necessary (wajib) to perform it.

-The same conditions that need to be met for salaah will apply for sajdah-e-tilawah.

1. After making the intention of sajdah-e-tilawah, in the state of Wudhu stand up and say: اللّٰهُ أَكْبَر without raising the hands.

2.Then go straight down into Sajdah & recite سُبْحَانَ رَبِّىَ الأَ عْلَى three times.

3. Arise out of Sajdah and whilst standing up say;اللّٰهُ أَكْبَر.

– There is no Salaam after sajdah-e-tilawah.

-Although it is better to begin and end this sajdah from a standing position, it is also correct to perform it from the Jalsah (sitting) position.

-Sajdah-e Tilawat is prohibited whilst the sun is rising, precisely at noon, and from the time the color of the sun changes before sunset until the sun has fully set. (10/15 mins at each occasion).
