Chicken & Mushroom Pies


  • 500g boneless chicken (cubed)
  • 300g mushroom (chopped finely)
  • Ready rolled puff pastry (x 3)
  • 1 onion (chopped finely)
  • Knob of butter
  • 1 tsp garlic
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • Green chillies to taste
  • 1 egg (beaten)

White sauce:

  • 3 tbsps butter
  • 3 level tbsps plain flour
  • 2 cup milk


  1. Recite Bismillah
  2. Braise onions in butter until transparent.
  3. Add chicken, mushrooms, garlic, green chillies, salt & pepper. Cook on medium heat till water evaporates.
  4. Prepare the white sauce by braising butter & flour for 1-2 mins.
  5. Add milk.
  6. Stir the white sauce continuously using a whisk & bring to a boil. Cook till thick.
  7. Pour white sauce into the chicken & mushroom mixture.
  8. Season with salt, pepper etc if needed. Cook till thick if needed.
  9. Fill pies / pasties. (You may want to make a big pie if it’s being eaten on the day).
  10. Brush the top with beaten egg & freeze. (Pull out as needed)
  11. Bake at 180c till golden. Enjoy!

  1. I tried this pie yesterday as a beginner 🙈 & It turned out really nice m’a! It was so simple & easy to put together Aswell- so glad I did it. Jzk for posting your amazing recipes- I can’t wait to try some more!

  2. I tried this pie for dinner tonight and it was so yummy masha Allah. I added cheese to the mixture for a different twist. Next time I might try adding sweet corn and carrots too.
